Knowledge Development Lawyer - Financial Regulations
BLP is one of the only leading London law firms to have a fully integrated contentious and non-contentious financial services practice, incorporating other practice specialisms including antitrust, corporate crime and data security. As the regulators’ supervisory powers continue to increase, we think that the distinction between advisory work and defence work is eroding. As a result, our advisory lawyers work alongside our contentious regulation lawyers on a daily basis, to leverage each other’s experience in delivering the best advice to our clients.
This is an excellent opportunity to help the Financial Regulation Group to win new clients, develop its relationships with core clients and raise its external profile more generally, by identifying topics for/drafting thought leadership pieces and seminars and designing know-how products to market to clients.
Who we’re looking for
The successful candidate will be a mid- to senior level Financial Regulation lawyer (whether currently a professional support lawyer (PSL) or senior associate seeking a change). Contentious experience would be helpful but is not a pre-requisite.
Non-PSL candidates will need to show their aptitude for knowledge development and will have had some experience within their fee-earning role such as delivering client training or producing written knowledge materials.
You will also have experience of advising on the development and implementation of new regulation and legislation at both UK (FCA and PRA) and EU levels. You will be familiar with using legal research tools (including online sources such as LexisNexisButterworths, Westlaw, PLC).
To be successful, you will have the gravitas to win the respect of the partners and be able to establish a rapport with legal staff at all levels within the firm, as well as facilitate and coordinate the assistance of fee-earners in KM activities.
What’s in it for you
Making sure our people feel valued is part of our everyday culture, ensuring that they are rewarded is part of our everyday work too. From 25 days holiday per year to private medical insurance, pensions, charity schemes and a whole host of other flexible benefits, you can rest assured that we've got your best interests covered.
Join BLP, and you'll discover an environment unlike any other law firm with an open door policy that helps to deliver real results. Your career is important to us, as the more our people develop getting closer to their potential, the more successful our firm is. So ensuring that the training we offer is exactly what you need is essential. Lawyers, PA’s and business services experts - everyone here has access to tailored learning to suit their skills and ambitions.
