The Firm

We stand out for being consistently excellent in advice.  We not only provide technical excellence and experience but crucially, we also demonstrate real insight into our clients and what really matters to them. Our knowledge of our chosen sectors and markets, and our investment in our client relationships set us apart. We are a natural choice for FTSE100 and other "bold and beautiful" clients.

The Group

The Real Estate Division is one of Addleshaw Goddard's largest, comprising a team in excess of 200. Within Construction nationally, there are eight  Partners and over 40 other fee-earners.

The work of the construction team is hugely varied and includes Real Estate, Banking and PFI/Projects support in addition to a significant amount generated from within the construction group itself. Our advice covers the whole range of construction, engineering, real estate and banking issues across both public and private sectors.

Our Requirements

We are looking for a junior Construction lawyer to join the team to work on a variety of construction matters (which includes construction, projects or environment). This will include a mixture of contentious and non-contentious matters.

You will handle your own matters (with supervision) and assist the Partners and Managing Associates on more complex matters.  We have a strong reputation for providing Associates with early levels of responsibility within a supportive, stretching environment.  This is a high performing, cohesive and busy team with excellent prospects for career development.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

Suitable candidates will have strong academics and will have gained at least six months construction experience during their training contract or post qualification at a leading practice recognised for construction or Real Estate work.

Along with excellent communication skills, we are seeking candidates with a good grounding in the basic elements of construction law, a willingness to learn and develop commercial awareness, good drafting skills and plenty of drive and enthusiasm to help us to provide an excellent client service. In addition to this you should be able to demonstrate you are able to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, challenging environment, where you will be required to meet tight deadlines.

The ideal candidate for this role will be bright and self motivated with good organisational and inter-personal skills.

Background

You will have:

►    Excellent academic achievement with a minimum 2:1 degree

►    Ideally at least six months experience in non contentious construction law, ideally set in construction or projects and gained within a comparable environment and at an appropriate level

►    Experience of drafting a variety of construction documents and experience of JCT contracts (or other standard forms such as NEC3) as a minimum,

►    The ability to actively support complex transactions, liaising and coordinating with fee earners from other relevant disciplines as needed.

►    Clear understanding and working experience of the operation and structure of a leading law firm and the needs of the clients of a top flight team
